Lost Canyon Hike

NOTE: The following summary information is to help with hike selection and is not intended to be used for hiking the trail. For your safety and enjoyment, please obtain a copy of Great Sedona Hikes hiking guide available HERE.

Summary:  A scenic hike to an overlook of some Indian Ruins

Challenge Level:  Moderate

Hiking Distance:  About 1 1/4 mile each way, 2 1/2 miles round trip

Trailhead Location:  The parking area is located on FR 152. FR 152 can be extremely rough so a high clearance vehicle is recommended. The trailhead is shared with the west end of the Brins Mesa Trail.

Description:  You'll be climbing from altitude about 4600 feet to 5000 feet for this hike. The overlook where you can see the Indian Ruins below is pretty spectacular. The red rock views along the trail are very nice. We hiked a little further than the Indian Ruins and the trail continues toward Devil's Bridge.

If you'd like to drive out Forest Road 152 to the Lost Canyon, HS Canyon, Bear Sign, Devil's Bridge, Secret Canyon, Vultee Arch, etc. parking areas or drive out Schnebly Hill Road to the Cow Pies Trail parking area, you may want to rent my Ford Explorer. It's available on a daily basis through And sorry, but it's not available on Mondays from Labor Day to Memorial Day (that's our normal hiking season and I'm using it those days).
