Summary: This loop hike provides views of Bell Rock, Courthouse Butte and Cathedral Rock
Challenge Level: Easy to Moderate
Hiking Distance: About 2, 4 or 6 miles round trip
Trailhead Directions: From the "Y" (the intersection of State Route 89A and State Route 179), travel south on State Route 179 for about 8 miles. The trailhead is the second "scenic view" on the left side of the southbound SR 179 just north of Bell Rock. The trail starts on the south side of the parking area.
Description: The south end of Llama Trail is connected to the Courthouse Butte Loop trail, near the Village of Oak Creek. The north end of the Llama Trail is on the Little Horse Trail. Llama essentially parallels the Bell Rock Pathway. This trail is on the north side of Bell Rock, approaches Lee Mountain and provides outstanding views of Bell Rock, Courthouse Butte, Lee Mountain and Cathedral Rock. There isn’t much shade on this hike. We discovered a series of pools, which we named "the 8 sacred pools." If you use the Little Bell Trail you have a 2 mile hike; if you use the Bail Trail you have a 4 mile hike; and if you go all the way to the Little Horse Trail you have a 6 mile hike.
