GREAT SEDONA HIKES

Templeton Trail Hike

Summary:  This hike passes beneath Cathedral Rock

Challenge Level:  Moderate

Hiking Distance:  Approximately 4 miles round trip

Trailhead Directions:  We used the Cathedral Rock Trailhead for this hike. From the "Y" (the intersection State Route 89A and State Route 179), drive south on SR 179 for 3.2 miles to the Back'O Beyond roundabout. Go west on the Back'O Beyond Road for about 3/4 mile. The parking area is on your left.

Description:  The Templeton Trail stretches from Highway 179 west to the Baldwin Trail. We hiked it by starting on the Cathedral Rock Trail and intersecting the middle of the Templeton Trail under Cathedral Rock. We went east (left) until we connected to the H. T. Trail. We then followed the H. T. Trail until we found a nice stopping point just short of Highway 179. The trail has excellent views of Cathedral Rock and many other red rock formations.
